Mayor Tim Keller and Albuquerque Police Department leaders announced Wednesday that property crime in the Duke City has declined for the first time in years.

2022 had the lowest rate of violent crime in six years, according to APD. A CLOSER LOOK Murder is up — there were a record 120 murders in Albuquerque last year, compared to 70 in 2017.

According to APD data, for the first time in several years, we saw a decrease in aggravated assaults. Those crimes dropped 11% since 2023. The number of gunshot victims also dropped by 14%.
