Trump said in an interview Thursday with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt he “would fire [Smith] within two seconds” if he wins, calling Smith a “scoundrel” and a “very dishonest man.” Hewitt had asked Trump if he would rather pardon himself if elected or fire Smith, which Trump said was an “easy” choice.

"I would fire him within two seconds,” Trump told radio show host Hugh Hewitt. Smith is the top prosecutor in two cases against Trump, one involving efforts to overturn the 2020 election and the other dealing with taking classified documents when he left office.
