The meeting comes on the same day that The Washington Post— also owned by Jeff Bezos— killed a presidential endorsement of Kamala Harris written by The Post ’s editorial board. The paper reported that Bezos himself had nixed the endorsement. The decision has outraged much of The Post newsroom as well as among journalists across the industry.

The Washington Post is getting out of the business of endorsing candidates for president, starting with the upcoming election between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

The Washington Post won’t make an endorsement for president this year. Ben Mullin from the New York Times first reported the news, which was confirmed by CEO Will Lewis shortly thereafter. The announcement follows the same decision from the Los Angeles Times earlier this week, prompting a top editor to resign.
