The National Weather Service (NWS) issued severe thunderstorm warnings for several northeast Kansas counties. At 7:35 p.m., the NWS issued severe thunderstorm warnings for Jackson, Jefferson and Shawnee counties until 8 p.

Areas including Kansas City, Missouri, Kansas City, Kansas and Overland Park could experience winds up to 70 mph, according to the NWS. The thunderstorm warning area extends as far west as Reno and Bonner Springs in Kansas and as far east as Excelsior Springs and Elmira in Missouri.
