The Houston Dynamo were expecting a huge crowd to fill Shell Energy Stadium on Sunday night with Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF in town. The anticipation of a big night was delivered a gut punch with the news Saturday that Messi would miss the match so he could get some rest.

There was no indication leading up to Sunday's game that Messi wouldn't travel to Texas with his Inter Miami teammates. But on Saturday, multiple reports indicated that the Argentine superstar stayed back in south Florida ahead of the match against the Dynamo at Shell Energy Stadium.
