Warner Bros Discovery said on Wednesday that it plans to offer sports and news content at no additional cost on its streaming platform, Max, to standard and premium subscribers in the U.S.

Warner Bros. Discovery reversed plans announced in September of 2023 to launch a premium tier for sports programming on Max, and said it also would end an experiment called “CNN Max” that attempted to create a new CNN tier for subscribers to the streaming service.

B/R Sports on Max boasts more than 1,700 live games and events each year from the NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA, NASCAR and tennis's French Open, among others. Warner Bros. Discovery's TNT channel, which has broadcast NBA games for decades, will lose their contract with the league at the end of the 2024-2025 season.

The service will make its long-awaited debut down under on March 31, with the second season of HBO's post-apocalyptic series 'The Last of Us' serving as an early tentpole title when it releases in April.
