Interstate 40 eastbound was shut down at the Interstate 55 split in West Memphis on Wednesday night, causing a major traffic backup that lasted hours. Eastbound I-40 was diverted to I-55. The cause of the incident was not disclosed — ARDOT information said only that it was a “Police Incident.
