Muschamp was Texas' defensive coordinator from 2008-10 and will replace Pete Kwiatkowski on Steve Sarkisian's staff

The Texas Longhorns announced a significant coaching staff change on Thursday. The program will not keep defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski or passing game coordinator Duane Akina, and will bring back a familiar face, Will Muschamp, as the new defensive coordinator.

Former Florida Gators head coach Will Muschamp has already faced his former team several times over the past decade while coaching elsewhere in the SEC. This time, he’ll do so with a new team and a new role,
