Gov. Whitmer has called the conclusion of road funding and economic development initiatives "big obstacles." They loom over budget negotiations.

Whitmer said at the Detroit Auto Show that a new road funding plan would need to include new revenue sources, plus fiscally responsible spending cuts.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s budget recommendation is about $83.5 billion. On roads and bridges, she’s proposed $4.9 billion in total road funding, including federal, state and restricted funds.
