Former Arkansas governor and businessman James “Jim” Guy Tucker has died at 81 years old. Tucker was born on June 13, 1943, and served as the 43rd governor of Arkansas. Tucker became governor after the state’s 42nd governor,

He was among those targeted by the investigation that consumed much of Bill Clinton’s presidency. But his conviction was later questioned.

Mr. Tucker succeeded Bill Clinton as governor after the 1992 presidential race and was later convicted on charges raised during the Whitewater investigation.

Jim Guy Tucker, Arkansas’ 43rd governor, died Thursday at the age of 81. Tucker died at 3:23 p.m., of complications from a lifelong disease, ulcerative colitis, said Lance Alworth Jr., Tucker’s stepson.
