Two bridges over Interstate 85 in Gaston County were closed early Wednesday morning after they were struck by a vehicle, officials with the North Carolina Department of Transportation said.

A bridge over I-85 in Gaston County will be closed “until further notice” after a crane hit it Wednesday morning, officials said. The crane was reportedly on a truck when it hit the Belmont-Mount Holly Road bridge,

One lane of Interstate 85 northbound is closed approaching Belmont after a crane truck damaged the bridge at Exit 26 for Belmont Mount Holly Road. Traffic impact is a three-mile delay back to Exit 29 for Sam Wilson Road.
