BOSTON — After a day that saw the Bruins dump so many key parts of their lineup and their culture before the trade deadline on Friday, their short-term future is bleak and their long-term prospects are uncertain.
The trade deadline has passed, and the Boston Bruins were quite busy this year. But this season, unlike the past seasons in Don Sweeney’s tenure, they were sellers, not buyers.
"The human side of me was crushed," Jeremy Swayman said as the Bruins tried to pick up the post-deadline pieces.
The Boston Bruins blew it up at the trade deadline.  Trent Frederic, Justin Brazeau, Charlie Coyle, Brandon Carlo and captain Brad Marchand were all shipped out
Casey Mittelstadt was once a decorated high school athlete, and the next chapter of his hockey journey will take place in Boston.
Bruins general manager Don Sweeney needs to conduct a going-out-of-business sale at the NHL trade deadline because his team is going nowhere. That’s true this season and beyond if he and the Bruins refuse to come to grips with their shortcomings.
