Legendary Colorado coach Bill McCartney has died at the age of 84, the school announced on Saturday. McCartney, a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, is the winningest coach in program history and led the program to its only national championship in 1990.

As the CU Buffs community gathered to honor the late Bill McCartney, there were Nebraska jokes. Of course, there were jabs at the Cornhuskers.

McCartney remains the winningest coach in Colorado history, with a record of 93-55-5. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
