An "active attacker with [a] knife" is being sought by police on the University of Virginia's (UVA) campus in Charlottesville Thursday afternoon.

A shelter-in-place was lifted at the University of Virginia and classes were canceled Tuesday after police were searching for a man accused of fleeing a traffic stop.

A shelter in place order on the University of Virginia campus has been lifted. It was issued early Tuesday morning as police responded to reports of a suspect involved in multiple car crashes near Alderman Road and McCormick Road.

The University of Virginia Police Department posted an alert on their Facebook asking all students faculty, and staff to shelter in place.
