A $10,000 reward is being offered leading to the arrest of a suspect who shot a 27-year-old trooper who was trying to help a driver on the Southern State Parkway.

A New York State Police trooper was shot by a suspect overnight in Nassau County, Long Island. CBS News New York's Natalie Duddridge reports from the scene.

On October 30, at about 11:45 p.m., a shooting occurred on the Southern State Parkway westbound in the area of Exit 17, West Hempstead Nassau County, between a New York State Trooper and suspect who fled the scene. The Trooper was wounded and is currently in stable condition at a local hospital and the investigation is ongoing.

NYSP said the trooper, who is currently listed in stable condition, was shot during a traffic stop on the Southern State Parkway just before midnight.
