Kohl’s said Friday it was closing 27 stores in April – several in California – as the struggling chain aims to improve sagging sales.

Macy's has released a list of 66 "underproductive" stores it plans to close, three are in Georgia. More closures are expected at a later date.

Macy's revealed the locations of 66 stores, including nine in California that will be closing as part of the department store chain's Bold New Chapter strategy. Two are in San Diego County.

The Macy’s store at Otay Ranch Town Center in Chula Vista is on the list, along with the Macy’s Home store in Mission Valley. The other California closures include stores in Westminster, Los Angeles, Newark, Sacramento and San Mateo. Other states with multiple stores being shuttered include Florida, New York, Texas and Washington.

The company did not say when the Kingston Macy's would close, and a manager at the location said staff had not been given a closure date, but declined further comment.

Macy's said on Thursday that it plans to close 150 stores in 22 states throughout the country for underperformance as the company's next step in finding its way to profitability again.

All 66 locations will begin clearance sales this month that will run for approximately eight to 12 weeks, according to Macy’s FAQ page. The post Macy’s store in Mass. among dozens closing across the U.
