Texas Tech and Lubbock officials have provided a timeline and preliminary details as to what led to the overnight fires and explosions on campus.

Texas Tech and Lubbock Fire Rescue officials were confirming an ongoing evacuation near the campus' engineering key as well as outages across the Tech and Texas Tech Health Sciences Center campuses following several fires and a power substation explosion Wednesday evening.

A series of fires and a manhole explosion led officials to shut down the campus and send students home early for spring break.
