Biased opinion as my mother works there and I attended, but I would say coming straight out of high school, metro is still a good option, unlike the university of Minnesota, most faculty aren't research oriented and many are adjunct/community staff so the professors are actually performing tasks in their field of study.

By getting licensed and certified out of high school you are Saving so much money. imagine having to be a tech in training getting paid 25-50% less to work just because your “in traning” when you could come right out of high school making a technicians wages

Dec 20, 2020 · Attended my local technical school which had a specialty engineering program. This helped me knock out both of the intro engineering classes as well as gain valuable experience. I was Valedictorian of my class, as well as an Eagle Scout. I volunteered outside of school and held multiple internships throughout my later years of high school.

Nov 3, 2021 · You need to apply to get into Troy Tech which is their STEM program and very competitive. Residency is not a requirement for Troy Tech. My son goes there but went to a private junior high school. The key is to get good grades and teacher recommendations. There used to be an entrance exam but I don’t know if they will reinstating it.
