Laura Jeanne Kelly (born January 24, 1950) [1][2] is an American politician serving as the 48th governor of Kansas since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, she represented the 18th district in the Kansas Senate from 2005 to 2019. [3]

Governor Laura Kelly grew up in a career military family where she learned the importance of service, integrity, and accountability. She has made it her life's work to fight for children and families as a four-term state senator and now in her second term as the 48th Governor of the State of Kansas.

On Wednesday, Jan. 15, Governor Kelly delivered her 2025 State of the State Address to the Kansas Legislature. Governor Kelly's balanced budget proposal fully funds Kansas public schools, invests in water and early childhood, expands Medicaid, and more.
