Ryzen 9 5900x - cooler requirements - AMD Community
Oct 18, 2020 · The Ryzen 9 5900x does not come with a cooler like the 3900x did. I have not seen any recommendation for 5900x coolers. The 5900x and 3900x seem to share similar thermal profiles. Would the Wraith Prism LED Cooler that the 3900x uses work well on the 5900x? I see it for sale on Amazon for $45.

May 21, 2022 · The Ryzen 5900X is a much hotter running processor than the 5600X. Comparing the 5900X to the 5600X according to AMD Specs: TDP Rating: 5900x=105 watts TDP 5600X=65 watts TDP. Maximum Operating Temperature: 5900X=90c 5600X=95c. You will need a powerful Air CPU Cooler to maintain the 5900X below 90c temperatures. I guess you will find out.

So your CPU Cooler should be adequate enough for normal computer use but most likely under very heavy loads the processor's temperature might be in the high 80c and possibly up to or past 90c. The processor's maximum operating temperature is 90c so you will need a powerful CPU Cooler to keep it below 90c.
